Pulaski's 2019 Recap

Another year has come and gone and with this one a decade as well, and boy has it been an interesting year for the Town of Pulaski. We've had so many wonderful experiences throughout, and we wanted to dive into some of what made it special for us, as well as take a look at what's coming up in 2020 at the start of a new decade.

Everyone loves a good party. That's why we made sure that our events calendar was booked to the gills this year! We had something big scheduled for just about every month, whether it was the Music and Merchants Festival back in May or PulaskiFest in September. A big part of why we love working here at the Town offices is our community; it's made up of some truly astounding people, and having the privilege to interact and meet with so many of them is a blessing that we will always count. Seeing the smiling faces of hundreds of children at our Trunk or Treat event in Jackson Park was a particular highlight for me, because I remember just how special it was to go trick or treating with mom and dad before heading home and dumping all my candy on the floor to sort through for the good stuff. And we can't talk about 2019 without mentioning the Pulaski Yankees; they had an incredible season, finishing off the year with a record of 42-26! We're so excited to see what happens this year at Calfee Park, because we're sure the Yankees will put on another amazing season.

We've had a few new faces join us here in the Town as well, along with a few that we were sad to see go. The Bottom Floor Market was a great space for local entrepreneurs to sell their goods, but unfortunately they had to close their doors. But if you stop by 338 North Washington Avenue now, you'll find Lil' Oscars Lunch on the Run now occupying the space. They were already there before, but now they have it all to themselves. It's a great option for lunch whether you're in a hurry or you want to stop and enjoy a meal. And while it's not officially open until this Saturday, Next Level VR will add some unique flavor to Main Street, bringing a new entertainment option to the Town. We're excited to see who lays claim to Pulaski as their new home in 2020; we've got some promising folks looking to make waves by moving in!

As we move in to the New Year, the Town has a slew of new activities and events planned for our citizens to take advantage of. Most notably, the Pulaski Cruise-Ins will be returning after a one year hiatus! We're looking forward to bringing it back, and celebrating all things classic cars with you. If you haven't heard yet, we also have plans to construct a new skate park and basketball facility over on 1st Street Northeast. We're pushing hard to continue bringing more options for fun and activity to Pulaski's youth, and we want our Town to be the first choice for parents and kids alike when searching for something fun to do on the weekends. We're hoping to have our Pedal Pushers initiative in place as well. The bike trails will connect with several notable places throughout Town, giving Pulaski's residents more options when they want to get out and about without having to drive.

All in all, 2019 was a wonderful year for us. It seems a little unreal that the decade is coming to an end in less than a day, but time marches on. The future is always uncertain, but we know one thing; no matter what, we'll be here making things brighter and bringing joy to your life. From all of us here at our Town offices, we wish you a Happy New Year and a fantastic decade!
